Why use a company that provide you with retail ready products? We take a look at the processes used, the reasons why you should use such an organisation and the benefit it can bring to your business’s bottom line.

Automations Mean Higher Quality Production

In an industry where, due to the nature of the products, weighing and packaging can cost additional time and money it could pay to spend a little bit more but employ a specialist company with an automatic weighing machine to look after your needs. If you would like to be able to supply your retailers with well presented and perfectly finished cases that have packs which are fully labelled with price, weight and traceability information then this is the route to take.

Full automation can bring down labour costs, reduce giveaway costs and increase safety and hygiene. Most organisations can now deal with all manner of products whatever their shape, size or stickiness.

The integration that these companies can offer means performance levels increase and there is minimal downtime. The packaging process can be broken down into two sections

1. Primary Packing Phase

Any initial packing solution needs to start with a denesting process to ensure fast and accurate delivery of the containers later in the line.

This is then followed by one of the most important parts, the weighing of the goods into the trays. Good automatic weighing systems should be able to deal with all manner of fresh food and make sure that they are dealt with hygienically, accurately and quickly. To double check this process the tray should then pass through an integrated check weigher that will reject any under or over weight containers. Accuracy at this stage is key to ensure that the products are compliant to both yours and the retailer’s standards. Following this the tray must be fully sealed and presented in an aesthetically pleasing manner.

2. Retail Ready Phase

At this point metal detection is a key element ensuring that there hasn’t been any contamination during the primary packing process. Next the items need to be labelled accurately with their correct weight, price and the retailers’ barcode and most importantly this must be positioned in the right place. From this point the bar codes will be quality checked for both readability and positioning. The final part of the process is for there to be a manual check of the final packaged products including weighing, labelling and packing the trays into cases, crates or cartons for swift onward transportation and easy shelf stacking.

Checklist Of The Advantages Of Using A Retail Ready Packing System

Each pack is bar coded correctly and every tray is filled using an automatic weighing machine so that the food label is correct for price and weight. Each label is correctly positioned and orientated. Each case is subsequently weighed again to ensure it has been correctly filled and the crates will be stacked in an orderly, consecutive sequence. Double checked for metal contamination.
